“I embarked on the “Complete Get Fit Weight Loss Coaching” with Martha in May, and I have to say I am totally surprised and at the same time motivated by my efforts and results. In the past I have tried numerous weight loss methods, only to go up and down the same 5 pounds. It was totally frustrating. In these past 4 months, my attitude towards food has changed and I have never felt healthier or stronger. Martha is kind, supportive, and the best motivator. She has great intuition. Her knowledge of exercise, workouts, nutrition, rest days, etc is excellent. She pushes just the right amount, still making me the one that I am accountable to. Simply, she is a great coach. I have lost weight and inches, but I have gained greater self-confidence and strength, both in regard to eating and exercise. She has been a key player in helping me achieve this level of health. Results do take time, and if you set your mind to making those positive changes – the results come and the feeling is exhilarating. Thank you Martha for being my coach on my road to a healthy lifestyle of feeling strong, lean, and fit.”

“As a teacher, it is my mission to cultivate lifelong learners and grow children who have a passion and zest for learning. As adults, we often forget this joyful learning. We forget that we have the capacity to grow! Martha Grinnell is also a teacher and an encourager. She is knowledgeable, passionate and committed to her sport and to her athletes. Martha teaches and leads by example. Her training plans are researched based, detailed and motivational. Best of all, Martha knows her athletes and each plan is individualized. Her ability to understand what makes each athlete tick is uncanny! She takes the time to understand the physical, psychological and personal needs of each athlete. Martha has motivated me to grow as an athlete and as a person. She has helped me develop confidence in my swimming, biking and running. Not only has my confidence grown, my progress can be measured in improved racing performance! I’m a better athlete and person thanks to Martha.”

Coach Martha has given me a new lease on life! Before starting work with Martha, I knew that: a) I really needed to get moving and make exercise and fitness part of my daily life; b) I needed professional guidance and instruction in order to remain healthy and to reduce the risk of injury; and c) it was important that I felt comfortable with my coach as this would aid in my success. With that being said, I rather, sheepishly, contacted Martha and asked if she would consider taking me on as a client. I knew that she trained triathletes and was a successful triathlete herself…I was an overweight, out of shape, middle aged woman who was very motivated to get fit, live a healthier lifestyle and lose weight. Martha immediately put my fears, my trepidation, and any embarrassment to rest in our very first conversation together. Immediately, I was filled with excitement, anticipation, and I couldn’t wait to start my new program. I knew that I had chosen the very best person to help me on this new journey. What I didn’t know was how quickly I would begin to feel the benefits of my work. Within the first 4-6 weeks, I felt stronger, more balanced and more flexible than ever before. With previous exercise endeavors, it did not take much to derail my efforts i.e. weather, work, family, pets….they were all good reasons NOT to exercise on any given day! Since I’ve started working with Martha (April 2012), it never crosses my mind NOT to do my workout. My weekends and free time are planned around my daily workouts! I never realized that this is a great way to LIVE! Martha has inspired me (and my family) to do things I never would have imagined possible six months ago. Each monthly program is thoughtfully created to work with my work schedule, family events and/or vacation time. Martha’s constant encouragement and motivation are key to my success. I’ve lost inches and pounds and have gained muscle, tone, and confidence! Four years ago, I was diagnosed with breast cancer and I learned that exercise was very important in preventing a recurrence. Martha has helped me realize that this is one competition I will win!

“Before I began working with Martha I had two speeds in my training; high and off. Even though I was successful in my ultra distance cycling events, I was plagued with injuries and Motrin became part of my race fuel. When I committed to the 2008 Race Across America (RAAM) as part of a 4-person mixed team, I knew it was time for some help and Martha was everything I hoped for and so much more. She successfully developed a plan that increased my speed and strength, but above all, on that fit into my always changing schedule. She was so perceptive and diligent about engaging in my daily training summaries. She always stayed one step ahead of me, and don’t think you can slide anything by her! I am amazed at the results and peaked at just the right time for RAAM. I felt strong and fast the whole way throughout the 7 days. I took 1 hour off of my time in the Nightmaretour course (180 miles of hills) – and most importantly , injury free. This year (2010) we won the 4-person mixed category for RAAM in 6 hours, 11 days and 16 minutes! Martha is genuine, constantly engaged, amazing and above all … committed to your success!”

“Hard to believe that it was 8 years ago that I raced my first triathlon. I went from, “I hope that I can finish,” to “I plan to go to Nationals” and it’s been an amazing ride. I am so grateful that the universe allowed my path to cross with Martha’s. She is my coach, my mentor and my friend.”

I hired a coach because I had been a competitive age group athlete and was interested in improving my performance. I definitely feel that I made the right decision in not only in hiring a coach, but in hiring Martha. She and I are in touch with each other via email, texts and phone calls. She has helped me greatly with nutrition and Martha’s plans are individualized and have worked well for my lifestyle and race priorities. Her philosophy about training is credible and precise; her views on triathlon are clearly well researched. Her program works very well for athletes who are willing to make a serious commitment to the sport.
“Coach Martha knows when to push my limits and when to back things down when life takes over. She gets it. She is equally invested in the process of the goals of her athletes. Through her meticulous training plans, I have achieved things that I never thought would be possible. I am in the best shape of my life (one year after back surgery) and I owe it to the help from Martha!”
