Coach Martha has given me a new lease on life! Before starting work with Martha, I knew that: a) I really needed to get moving and make exercise and fitness part of my daily life; b) I needed professional guidance and instruction in order to remain healthy and to reduce the risk of injury; and c) it was important that I felt comfortable with my coach as this would aid in my success. With that being said, I rather, sheepishly, contacted Martha and asked if she would consider taking me on as a client. I knew that she trained triathletes and was a successful triathlete herself…I was an overweight, out of shape, middle aged woman who was very motivated to get fit, live a healthier lifestyle and lose weight. “Before I began working with Martha I had two speeds in my training; high and off. Even though I was successful in my ultra distance cycling events, I was plagued with injuries and Motrin became part of my race fuel. When I committed to the 2008 Race Across America (RAAM) as part of a 4-person mixed team, I knew it was time for some help and Martha was everything I hoped for and so much more. She successfully developed a plan that increased my speed and strength, but above all, on that fit into my always changing schedule. She was so perceptive and diligent about engaging in my daily training summaries. She always stayed one step ahead of me, and don’t think you can slide anything by her!
