“I started ‘toying’ with triathlons as a personal challenge the year I turned 40. It seemed like the thing to do at the time but little did I know that it would become such a big part of my life. This year I decided it was time to try a Half Ironman event. I was not a good swimmer and had never been able to complete even an entire sprint triathlon swim without doing a lot of breaststroke. I met with Martha for a swim lesson and she evaluated my stroke and form, then gave me instruction on what to improve. I left her that day with a specific swim plan to follow and a great deal of hope! I followed her plan and could feel the improvement in my swimming capabilities.
After committing to doing the Half Ironman, I met with Martha on a monthly basis. She gave me specific workouts to follow and also advice on how to prepare for them, both mentally and physically. Martha’s knowledge and guidance was just what I needed! I finished my Half Ironman and beat my personal goal time! I even swam the entire 1.2 miles doing freestyle!"
